Hot Video Games for 2009: Part 1

Ok, I have been writing about gift ideas for individual game systems for the holidays but now I can just make a list of great games coming out for all of the systems at once.

1. Kill Zone 2 (PS3): Hands down the best shooter for the PS3, the single player is a blast and the multiplayer is just as great, if the person you are buying this for has an HDTV than this game will put it to good use.

2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3): This is a sequel to one of the most exciting games on the PS3 the game comes out on October 13th and is receiving massive raves for its excellent story presentation and multiplayer

3. Batman Arkham Asylum (XBOX 360, PS3, PC): This is a superhero game done right, wonderful atmosphere, great story telling, awesome characters, cool boss battles, a fluid fighting system, great pacing and you get a great sense of what it's like to be Batman.

4. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (PS3, XBOX 360, PC): Another sequel to a great shooter for the PS3, this title is sure to warm the heart for that crazy gamer in your life.

5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii): Mario is back and this time he has some help. Nintendo made a showing of the game at E3 this year by having four people play the game at the same time, that's right four. The game made a buzz at the show and Nintendo believes that the game will be big this holiday.

6. Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo-(Wii):Play as young Goku as he battles his way to find the dragon balls and confront the return of the evil King Piccolo.

7. Wii Sports Resort with Wii MotionPlus (Wii): This bundle comes with the MotionPlus add-on and the Wii Sports Resort game, this a great way to give someone two gifts in one.

8. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 (Wii, XBOX 360, PS3, PC, PS2, PSP): Give dad a good reason to get up and play the Wii with the kids, there are two versions of the game, the game itself and a bundle with the MotionPlus add-on. It's also a great way to spend some quality time with dad, grandpa, uncle, boyfriend, or your husband, or even your wife.

9. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS): For all of you KH fans you may be wondering what other side stories can Square Enix Tell before moving on to KH3, well other than the upcoming Birth by sleep for the PSP it seems that there are other stories. 358 days over 2 (yes I'm afraid that is the title) tells the story of Roxas and his days with Organization 13.

10. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS): This is a follow up to Links' last DS adventure The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. This time Link travels by train, the game promises more puzzles and a bigger game.

11. Scribblenauts (DS): A cute and wonderful game, the object is to collect stars but there's a small catch, You must solve puzzles using words you think of. This games requires you to use your brain.

12. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS): Mario and Luigi are trapped…inside Bowser! Help them fight their way out and get a chance to play the big fire breathing baddy himself.

13. Nostalgia (DS): This epic RPG comes from the developers who designed the DS version of Final Fantasy 3 and 4. It takes place in the sky and in dungeons, a boy and his allies search for a man while soon discovering something that could mean the end of man flying in the skies.

14. DJ Hero (PS2, PS3, WII, XBOX 360): Everyone isn't into rock, so Activision is releasing a DJ game called DJ Hero, it boast a rooster of famous DJs like Jazzy Jeff, Daft Punk, Shadow, and the late DJ AM. The game uses a new turntable controller and allows players to scratch and rewind a track like a real DJ, the game uses brand new music mixed by famous DJs to bring some much needed fresh air to the music game genre. The Wii, PS3 and XBOX 360 consoles will have a second edition of the game called DJ Hero: Renegade edition, this version will have a metallic black and gold turntable with a carrying case that turns into a table for the turntable, the renegade edition will also have a Jay-Z and Eminem 2-disc album.

15. BandHero (Wii, XBOX 360, PS3, PS2): Like RockBand, this game allows people to play music together like a real band, only this game uses pop music. Taylor Swift is shown as a playable character, showing the game was made for this generation of kids in mind.

16. Cars Race O Rama (PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS, XBOX 360): THQ is releasing a new Cars racing game for the PS2. The game has new race tracks and you can build your favorite Cars character anyway you want.

17. Marvel Super Hero Squad (Wii, DS, PS2, PSP): Another great game for the young ones, Super Hero Squad allows player to control their favorite Marvel hero like Spider- man or as the Hulk in a fight to stop Dr. Doom. The game will also have a multiplayer versus mode.

18. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii, PSP, PS2): For all of the horror buffs out there, Silent Hill has always been the choice for a good scare and Shattered Minds is no exception. The game changes itself from a combat game to a game where the player needs to be smart and fast to stay alive.

19. Final Fantasy Dissidia (PSP): Final Fantasy fans have been waiting for this game for ages and now that it's here they have no excuse for not owning a PSP. The game boost characters from past Final Fantasy games to duel with each other to find crystals to…you know what, I'm not going to ruin it for you.

20. RockBand: Unplugged (PSP): This game isn't a follow up as it's a RockBand game on its' own, just like the console versions RB:U allows Players to start a band and play well known songs, with a catch, you must play all of the instruments on your own. The game can be challenging and the RB store makes a return as well so you can download even more songs.

21. Brutal Legend (PS3, XBOX 360): Developed by Tim Schafier this game is voiced and stared by Jack Black and takes place in a heavy metal world.

22. Fallout 3 Game Of The Year (PS3, XBOX 360, PC): If you missed out on the biggest open world RPG game of the year than now's your chance to see what all the noise is about, the Game Of The Year Edition will include the DLC missions that gamers have been playing and loving for months.

23. Borderlands (PS3, XBOX 360, PC): This game boasts over 1,000 different weapons customizations and options, players will need of their skills to survive.

24. Bakugan (DS, Wii, XBOX 360, PS3,PS2): What can you say about this game? Kids who play the card game are excited about this game and so are parents, more than Pokémon actually. The DS has an exclusive Collectors editions that comes with a Bakugan game piece.

25. Assassin's Creed 2 (XBOX 360, PS3, PC, DS): This is another highly anticipated game, this game is a sequel to 2007s Assassins Creed and looks to improve on everything from the combat to how the story unfolds. The DS version is called Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery

There are so many games coming out for the 2009 holiday season some games have been pushed back to early 2010, some just needed more time but a good size of games were pushed for the early half of 2010.
I will post a second list later this month showing holiday games you may have never seen or heard of before.
